Limassol

Why Limassol?

It is not just a coincidence that the first professional regional chamber orchestra is based in Limassol. Limassol is considered to be the cultural capital of Cyprus. Its long tradition in cultural affairs dates from the end of 19th century when first orchestras, ensembles, music schools, choirs and theatres were founded. It hosts Carnival with Serenaders' choirs, Rialto Theatre, Midieval Castle and many other internationally recognized cultural atractions.

Why Camerata?

The Camerata was a group of humanists, musicians, poets and intellectuals in late Renaissance Florence who gathered under the patronage of Count de' Bardi to discuss and guide trends in the arts, especially music and drama. They met mainly from about 1573 until the late 1580s, at the house of Bardi, and their gatherings had the reputation of having all the most famous men of Florence as frequent guests. At the present times the term camerata is usually used for small chamber orchestras.
